MONTHLY MEETINGSTHESE are held at the Rotary Hall, Station Hill Chippenham at 2.30pm Frances Alexander June Meeting report. Doorway – Lisa Lewes The subject of the June talk was Doorway, a charitable organisation which caters for homeless, marginalised adults. They offer a range of services from breakfast on Mondays to a full lunch on Thursdays, along with a change of clothing, a shower and a chance to chill out for a while. The demand for this service is so great that in the very near future there will be a Tuesday session at the United Reformed Tabernacle and plans are well advanced for similar facilities to be opened at Calne and Malmesbury. We were quite shocked to be told just how bad the drug problem is in Chippenham and also the problem of those who sleep rough, secretly, because they are afraid of what other people will say about them. Lisa Lewes delivered a very difficult subject very sensitively. Malcolm Hodges Postscript: Following this extremely interesting talk concerning the successful efforts in helping the homeless people living in and around Chippenham, we feel that it would be a very helpful gesture if our members could contribute a tin of food at our next Monthly Meeting to assist Doorway in their never ending efforts.
